Our Club
Local rules.
The rules of golf as published by the R&A apply, with the following local rules in operation at Panmure.
Out of Bounds
A ball is out of bounds if it lies over any fence, in or over the trench marked by black and white stakes on the right of the 8th, 10th and 18th holes, or in the car park / path between the 1st and 18th holes.
Penalty Areas
The Buddon Burn and all ditches are penalty areas. Stakes are red. The Burn crosses the line of play at the 12th, where carry is required to the raised green.
Roads and Paths
Most roads and paths on the course are playable as part of the course. Relief may be taken without penalty for a ball lying on:
- The access road behind the 18th tee, extending toward the 15th fairway
- The road crossing the 3rd and 16th fairways
These are treated as immovable obstructions. Relief is taken under Rule 16.1.
Young Trees
Young trees less than one club-length in height, or of any height if staked, are Ground Under Repair. Relief under Rule 16.1 must be taken.
Immovable Obstructions
Cottages, buildings, shelters, fixed sprinkler heads, wooden steps and marker posts are immovable obstructions. Interference with the line of play alone is not grounds for relief — with the exception of sprinkler heads within two club-lengths of the putting green, where relief may be taken from intervention on the line of play.
Health & Safety
Players must take all reasonable care to avoid endangering others on the course. Particular caution is advised:
- On the blind tee shots at the 1st and 8th holes — please ensure the fairway ahead is clear
- On the slippery ground near the Buddon Burn after rain
- Around the perimeter of the adjacent caravan park, where stray shots have a habit of finding parked cars
A printed copy of the local rules is available from the Pro Shop and a laminated version is fixed to the back of every scorecard. Members and visitors are responsible for familiarising themselves with the rules before play.
